Grab a beer (or wine) and float down Indy's Downtown Canal

There aren't many activities more linked with summertime in the Midwest than gathering a group of friends with some floats to head out for a day of drifting down a river with a beer in hand.

Usually this takes place in one of Indiana's out-of-the-way rural landscapes, but Yelp has partnered with Downtown Indy Inc. to bring this closer to home for us city-folk.

Yelp's Cabrewing on the Canal is described as "a blow-out floating party in the Downtown Canal Sunday, August 20. Each attendee will float along the north end of the canal in an innertube provided by City Way with complimentary snacks, drinks and entertainment provided along the route."

The snacks and drinks (which awesomely include wine popsicles) are provided by local businesses like Wick's Pies, Four Day Ray Brewing, Mallow Run Winery, Jack's Donuts and more. There will also be live music along the canal to enjoy including a steel drum band and DJ Metronome.

The cabrewing event is free with an RSVP for the first 2,000 people who RSVP on Yelp. Even though it is free, Yelp's Community Director Britt Smith reminds that the event is for a cause and that Yelp recommends "all attendees make a suggested donation of $10 day-of to our partner Downtown Indy, Inc. for ongoing Canal beautification."
